Update: The results of the survey have now been collected and analysed, and you can read more about them here.
If you have a passion for creativity, and you earn a living from your creative pursuits (or you aspire to some day), then we would like to ask for your help. It won’t take long.
Do you ever wonder about other artists in the same situation as you? Do you wonder how they make their living, how old they are, or what struggles they face in their career?
This is your chance to help us get answers to those questions and more.
Right Brain Rockstar and Artonomy are hosting an ‘Enterprising Artist Survey’ about the creative entrepreneur community, and we hope you will help the community by completing the survey.
Note: When I originally posted about the survey, I called it the Starving Artist Survey, but as a couple of our participants pointed out, that is not a myth we should be perpetuating, hence the name change.
You don’t have to be a professional artist to participate. Whether you are a full-time creative entrepreneur, or you’re just trying to sell a few paintings on the side here and there, we have questions for you. And all creative pursuits are eligible, from architecture to textiles.
By completing the survey, you’ll help us to gain a deeper insight into the artistic and creative community, so that we will be better equipped to help each other. You will also get a summarised copy of the survey results once it’s over, and if you complete the optional personal details section of the survey, you will get a mention in the results roundup post here on Right Brain Rockstar, with a link to your Twitter account and/or website.
(Note: All answers will remain anonymous. Email addresses will be used only to send a summary of results to all participants. Name, website and Twitter details will only be used to list all of the people who took part. If you don’t want to be listed, just don’t leave your details.)
Make sure you subscribe to free updates, so that you’ll know when the results are in, and what we learn from them.
There are 20 blogs participating in the Enterprising Artist Survey, each of which will be spreading the word to their readers.
We would also like to say a big thank you to Liz Close from Close Up PR, and Jenica Cogdill, for their invaluable assistance with compiling the survey questions.
